Nutrino Pro: slow release foliar nitrogen combined with plant biostimulants

Nutrino Pro is a rainfast, low scorch, highly efficient controlled release foliar nitrogen which contains magnesium and sulphur as well as two complementary plant biostimulants for improved nutrient use efficiency: Pidolic acid and R100. Nutrino Pro releases nitrogen over a 6-8 week period, whilst pidolic acid improves nitrogen assimilation and increases growth and yield. R100® improves the uptake and utilisation of the magnesium component (the central molecule in chlorophyll) in Nutrino Pro. It also boosts cytokinin levels in plant tissues, increasing photosynthetic capacity and maintaining green leaf retention.

Why should I use Nutrino Pro?

The traditional granular nitrogen fertiliser market is under severe pressure. Climate change is causing frequent drier springs which reduces efficacy and increases greenhouse gas emissions. This, combined with current turmoil in the European fertiliser market driven by high gas and energy prices is forcing the market to look for new, higher efficiency foliar nitrogen solutions. Nutrino Pro is exactly that; a controlled release Nitrogen combined with plant biostimulants with increased nutrient use efficiency.

How does Nutrino Pro improve nitrogen use efficiency (NUE)?

Nutrino Pro improves NUE in three ways: slowly releasing nitrogen over a 6-8 week period, increasing availability of nutrients; improving nitrogen assimilation through signalling compound pidolic acid; and improving the uptake of magnesium through our biostimulant technology R100. The NUE of traditional soil applied fertilisers can be as low as 30% but is typically 50%. In contrast, Nutrino Pro offers up to 95% NUE.

When should I use Nutrino Pro?

When to use Nutrino Pro varies depending on the crop. For example, Nutrino Pro is applied at the mid-season of maize from 8 leaf stage to tasseling (BBCH18-59), but as a flexible spring treatment alongside plant protection products for winter wheat. Our Yieldbuilder programme will provide you with an appropriate timetable and sequence of plant biostimulants appropriate to your individual circumstances.

Frequently asked questions

What makes Nutrino Pro different from traditional nitrogen fertilisers?

Nutrino Pro is a rainfast, low scorch foliar nitrogen that releases over 6–8 weeks. Unlike granular fertilisers, it delivers nitrogen more efficiently, with up to 95% nutrient use efficiency (NUE) compared to 30–50% for typical soil-applied nitrogen.

Which crops can benefit from Nutrino Pro?

Nutrino Pro can be used across a wide range of crops, including cereals, maize, oilseed rape, sugar beet, potatoes and many vegetables. Application timing varies depending on crop growth stage.

How does pidolic acid enhance Nutrino Pro’s performance?

Pidolic acid acts as a signalling compound to improve nitrogen assimilation, supporting increased amino acid and protein production, improved growth and higher yield potential.

What role does R100 play in Nutrino Pro?

R100 enhances magnesium uptake, the core element in chlorophyll, boosting photosynthetic capacity, cytokinin production and green leaf retention for longer periods.

When is the best timing for Nutrino Pro application?

  • Maize: Apply from the 8-leaf stage to tasseling (BBCH18–59).
  • Winter wheat: Apply as a flexible spring treatment alongside plant protection products.

For other crops, follow the Yieldbuilder programme or seek agronomic advice for tailored timings.

Can Nutrino Pro reduce environmental impact compared to conventional fertilisers?

Yes. With higher NUE and reduced volatilisation losses, Nutrino Pro ensures more nitrogen is used by the plant, lowering the risk of leaching and greenhouse gas emissions.

Is Nutrino Pro safe to use in hot or dry conditions?

Its low scorch formulation provides excellent crop safety, even in challenging weather conditions. However, for optimal uptake, avoid spraying during the hottest part of the day.

Can Nutrino Pro replace granular nitrogen entirely?

Nutrino Pro can be used as part or all of the nitrogen programme, depending on crop needs and environmental considerations. It is especially valuable where granular application is less effective, such as in dry springs.

Is Nutrino Pro compatible with other products?

Yes. It has wide tank-mix compatibility with many crop protection and nutrition products, making it easy to integrate into existing spray programmes.

How does Nutrino Pro contribute to yield stability?

By combining slow-release nitrogen with biostimulants, Nutrino Pro ensures a steady nutrient supply, stronger photosynthetic performance, and greater stress resilience, helping maintain yield potential even in variable growing conditions.
