IntraCrop launches Sulphur Maxx

IntraCrop has launched Sulphur Maxx, a new biostimulant designed to improve sulphur uptake, nutrient use efficiency and crop resilience under increasingly challenging growing conditions.

Sulphur plays a critical role in crop metabolism, supporting protein synthesis, nitrogen utilisation and enzyme activity. However, sulphur availability can be highly variable and traditional sulphur fertilisers are not always efficiently taken up by the plant, particularly under dry or stressful conditions.

Sulphur Maxx combines a crop-safe sulphur source with dimethyl sulphone (DMS), a biostimulant that enhances nutrient uptake by increasing the permeability of the plant cuticle and cell walls. This allows sulphur, and associated nutrients such as nitrogen, to move more efficiently into plant tissues, improving nutrient use efficiency without increasing application rates.

Independent glasshouse and field trials have shown that Sulphur Maxx can deliver higher sulphur uptake at lower application rates, improving crop safety and supporting balanced nutrition during key growth stages. In both winter wheat and oilseed rape, the inclusion of DMS consistently increased sulphur content within crops compared with higher rates of ammonium thiosulphate applied alone.

In addition to improving nutrient uptake, it has demonstrated benefits under abiotic stress. By improving nutrient delivery to plant tissues, DMS supports metabolic activity during periods of drought or environmental constraint, helping crops maintain growth and recover more effectively once conditions improve.
