IntraCrop is supporting research through the Maize Growers Association (MGA) by co-sponsoring its conference on 4th and 5th February alongside Frontier Agriculture as part of its commitment to advancing maize research and improving farm performance.
Formed in 1988 by a group of progressive farmers, the MGA was established to address the need for dedicated research and development in maize production. Since then, it has played a vital role in generating independent, practical data to support growers across the UK.
IntraCrop has a significant amount of expertise in maize agronomy in the UK and across Europe and has conducted 88 maize trials over the past five years, including five completed with the MGA over the last three years. These trials have focussed on improving yield, quality and nutrient efficiency across a wide range of soil types and weather conditions.
Working alongside experts from Frontier, whose technical expertise spans cultivation strategies, planting dates, crop management, variety performance and nutrition programmes, the collaboration ensures that research outcomes are clearly relevant to commercial maize systems.
Nutrino Pro, an IntraCrop biostimulant designed to improve tolerance to abiotic stress and enhance nutrient use efficiency, is suitable for all maize end markets, including grain maize and forage maize, as well as anaerobic digestion (AD) systems.
Across MGA, Frontier and on-farm trials, Nutrino Pro has consistently delivered improvements in dry matter yield, starch content, metabolisable energy (ME) yield and protein performance, supporting both productivity and feed quality.
Key results include:
On average, trials showed:
At a dry matter value of £170/t (November 2025), this equates to a strong margin over input cost, with Nutrino Pro applied at 20 L/ha delivering an estimated £110/ha MOIC.
By co-sponsoring the conference, IntraCrop hopes to ensure that maize growers have access to independent, data-driven insights into how biostimulants and nutrition strategies can be used more efficiently, giving them opportunities for improved profitability and sustainability.
