Water softening has a variety of uses in agriculture for the benefit of the plant as well as for expensive equipment. Hard water cations can affect the efficacy of sensitive plant protection products (PPPs), water softeners turn hard water soft minimising pesticide losses and optimising efficacy. Soft water is also beneficial when it comes to farm equipment as it substantially reduces the build up of limescale in tanks and pipes.
Anti-foam adjuvants reduce the formation of foam forming when spray agents are mixed together. Reducing foam will significantly improve control at application and stabilises the formulation. Solar Plus is our most popular anti-foam adjuvant.
Adjuvants are typically divided into two types: built-in/in-can adjuvant, which is included within your product, or tank-mix adjuvant. Intracrop has a range of available tank-mix adjuvants for a wide variety of circumstances.
Intracrop’s adjuvant Adhere is environmentally friendly. With a non-hazardous formulation, Adhere has a very low ecotox profile in comparison with paraffinic oil-based products. It uses a new mode of action and is derived from renewable sources which makes it readily biodegradable.

A herbicide adjuvant is added to the tank to improve herbicide performance. This can be done in a range of ways including working as an anti-foam, pH buffering or anti-drift technology. They can also increase herbicide absorption and coverage. Some herbicide adjuvants, such as Adhere, have been specifically developed for residual herbicides as they improve adhesion to the soil reducing leaching through the soil profile. A surfactant is actually a type of adjuvant. They are designed to enhance the properties of plant protection products. Surfactants are most often used to help a plant protection product spread over a leaf surface.
Sticker or Extender adjuvants increase the adhesion of the spray deposit to the target surface (e.g. leaf), helping the spray droplet resist removal by rain, wind or mechanical action.
