IntraCrop is continuing to expand its presence in Australia, with new trials of its flagship foliar product, Status®, now underway across a range of crop groups.
As a science-led organisation, these trials are a cornerstone of IntraCrop’s desire to offer the very best support to Australian growers as they look to maximise nitrogen use efficiency (NUE), improve crop resilience and make every unit of fertiliser work as hard as possible in increasingly challenging growing conditions. Running trials will enable the team to give the most accurate advice possible about vital details such as effective application timings and the impact of local conditions.
Australia presents a really unique set of agronomic challenges for growers. While growing conditions can be highly productive, growers are regularly battling prolonged drought, heavy rainfall, frost and ever-rising input costs, all of which place additional importance on improving on-farm efficiency. Recent increases in fertiliser prices have further highlighted how vital it is for Australian growers to get the maximum ROI from every nitrogen application they make.
Tom Godfrey, Key Account Manager for Australia, believes nitrogen use efficiency will remain a major focus for growers across the region. He tells us, “Australian growers are looking closely at how they can make their farming systems more efficient. Nitrogen application rates are generally lower than in the UK. With challenging growing conditions and very large field sizes, an opportunity to improve nitrogen use efficiency could prove to be vital for them.”
Status® is currently being evaluated across first-year trials in wheat, barley, canola, potatoes and vines. Alongside this work, IntraCrop is collaborating with Boolah through its Regen4Real programme, which focuses on practical approaches to improving input efficiency within Australian agriculture.
Looking ahead, Tom believes Status® is well placed to support Australian growers thanks to its unique mode of action and recognised nitrogen use efficiency claim under the EU Fertilising Products Regulation.
“In addition to improving nutrient use efficiency, we’ve also seen Status® help crops better tolerate abiotic stresses such as heat, drought, salinity and herbicide stress,” he said. “That combination could prove particularly valuable to help growers mitigate any external stresses to their crop.”
Status® is CE-marked under the EU Fertilising Products Regulation for nitrogen use efficiency and contains the award-winning molecule MTU® alongside pidolic acid. Together, these work to enhance photosynthesis, improve nitrogen uptake and utilisation, strengthen rooting and increase resilience under environmental stress, helping growers maximise yield potential while making better use of applied nitrogen.
