Seed treatment Prosper ST proven to increase yield


Achieving strong crop establishment is one of the most reliable ways to assure improved yields in winter wheat. The best possible rooting not only help crops cope better with stress, but will naturally improve nutrient use efficiency, leading to better tillering later in the season. Recent trials of Prosper ST prove that it consistently supports establishment and improved rooting, in turn leading to later yield increases.

At the University of Nottingham, a winter wheat trial (cv. Skyfall) demonstrated that Prosper ST increased root mass by 36%. Raised in compost and transplanted into hydroleca at BBCH12, the study showed that treated crops established more quickly and evenly compared with untreated controls. With 10 replicates and data assessed 21 days after transplanting, Prosper ST proved its effect on uniform establishment in the crucial early weeks.

Another winter wheat trial showed improved plant counts per m² by 8% (from 502.8 to 542.8 heads/m2) just 14 days after emergence.

Higher root biomass will ultimately impact the crops’ ability to access water and nutrients. This will become particularly important if these crops suffer from abiotic stress. This trial also assessed root dry weight at GS14, Prosper ST was responsible for a 48% increase in root biomass. These results clearly show the seed treatment will drive rooting  and giving the wheat a stronger foundation as it progresses towards tillering and stem extension.

Further trials assessed how the early establishment benefits of Prosper ST translated at harvest and impacted yield. In one, treated plots recorded a statistically significant increase from 6.41t/ha to 7.21t/ha in yield. In the second, crops treated with Prosper ST produced 5% more ears per m2, with an increase in yield from 12.1 to 12/5t/ha.

These multi-site datasets suggest that while yield response is also influenced by seasonal and site-specific conditions, Prosper ST consistently delivers measurable improvements in key yield-building components.
