What is the returnable and closed transfer IBCs scheme?


To minimise packaging waste and improve product delivery, IntraCrop and Frontier are offering the option of supplying both Cearum and Nutrino Pro in closed transfer IBCs (CT) and standard IBCs. Closed transfer IBCs carry a deposit that is credited on return. They are then refilled and re-used. Standard IBCs do not carry a deposit but can be returned for recycling.

 

 

If you wish to participate in this scheme, please use these guidelines to ensure everything works to plan. Remember to specify CT IBCs if you have a closed transfer system on your sprayer as standard IBCs are not compatible.

Returning your IBCs

When your CT IBC is ready for collection, please notify your Agronomist or local depot to arrange a backhaul at the time of your next delivery.

  • For CT IBCs: Ensure the outside of the IBC is clean and undamaged. The lid must not have been opened and the tamper-proof tag must be whole.  If not, the IBC cannot be re-used and must instead be recycled, invalidating the deposit.
  • For standard IBCs: Ensure the outside of the IBC is clean and undamaged. Rinse the empty IBC with a rotary nozzle lowered one-third of the way into the IBC for 90 seconds, then drain the IBC making sure no more than 1 litre of liquid remains. The drained liquid is best used when refilling the sprayer. The label plate, product label and hazardous material label must still be legible and the discharge valve must be in place, operable and in a closed position.

Onward hauliers and our recyclers are likely to reject the IBC on hazardous grounds if these conditions are not met.  We therefore reserve the right to refuse collection.
