IntraCrop is collaborating on an innovative research project with the Earth Observation Research Cluster (EORC) at the University of Würzburg, Germany, exploring how advanced remote sensing technologies may help improve our understanding of crop responses to biostimulants.
This exciting new project combines agronomy and remote sensing to investigate the effects of biostimulant applications in winter wheat and sugar beet using UAS technology for hyperspectral and multispectral imaging (Bavarian State Authority for Agriculture) and other field-based measurements.
Researchers from the University of Würzburg’s Department of Remote Sensing have established trial areas in Rottenbauer, near Würzburg, where Status® applications have been made during the 2026 growing season and will be monitored closely until harvest.
Using UAS-mounted hyperspectral sensors and LiDAR technology, the team is collecting detailed information about crop development and plant responses throughout this growing season. Alongside aerial data collection, extensive ground-based measurements are being carried out within the field to provide supporting agronomic information and ensure that they are accurate and reflective.
The work forms part of a wider programme investigating how remote sensing technologies can support modern agriculture and climate adoptation and improve our understanding of crop performance under different management approaches

The data collected during the 2026 season will contribute to a master’s research project beginning in September, with analysis focusing on relationships between remotely sensed measurements and observed crop responses. The collaboration will benefit from expertise of the University of Würzburg’s Earth Observation Research Cluster, agricultural researchers and IntraCrop’s own team, with their detailed understanding of photosynthesis improving biostimulant technology.
