Independent replicated plot trials carried out by Dyson Farming Research during the 2025 season have demonstrated that Status®, IntraCrop’s CE-marked biostimulant for nutrient use efficiency (NUE) and abiotic stress tolerance, can deliver substantial yield improvements in potato crops exposed to environmental stress.
Two field experiments, one on irrigated heathland (cv. Elland) and one on siltland (cv. Caledonian Rose), were assessed. In both cases, the season was marked by high temperatures, low rainfall and disrupted tuber bulking, creating conditions that were difficult for establishment and likely to impact on overall yield. This gave both teams an opportunity to evaluate the stress-mitigating effects of Status® on potatoes.
Status® was applied at the onset of stolon tip swelling and again 28 days later. Across both sites, the treatment provided clear physiological advantages that translated into markedly higher tuber yields.
In the Elland crop on the irrigated heathland site, mid-season stress caused untreated plots to stall, with no further increase in tuber weight. However, the Status®-treated plots maintained bulking at a reduced but sustained rate, resulting in a 26% yield uplift, from 66 t/ha to 83 t/ha.
At the siltland site, early-season stress limited total yield potential across the board, particularly for the Caledonian Rose variety. Despite this more challenging start, Status® delivered clear performance benefits. Treated plots exhibited faster early bulking, continued bulking for longer and ultimately produced a 42% increase in final yield, rising from 32 t/ha in untreated plots to 45 t/ha.

These results indicate that Status has real potential as a stress-mitigation tool in commercial potato production.”
Weather is becoming far less predictable across Europe, and this has continued to create serious challenges for growers. Tools that support crop resilience, such as biostimulants, are becoming essential. The Dyson Farming Research trials are part of robust, but still growing, evidence that Status® is able to protect yield in a wide range of crops undergoing abiotic stress.
In seasons like 2025, the ability of a biostimulant to sustain development when stress would otherwise reduce it is vital not only for yield but also for overall crop profitability.
