Earlier this spring, Jack Hill returned to the Salon International de l’Agriculture au Maroc (SIAM) — one of Africa’s largest and most influential agricultural events — as part of our deepening engagement with Morocco and its rapidly evolving agri-food sector.
Held in Meknes from 21–27 April, the 17th edition of SIAM brought together over a million visitors and 1,500 exhibitors, and was themed, “Agriculture and the Rural World: Water at the Heart of Sustainable Development.” Jack’s attendance enabled him to continue conversations on climate resilience, water use, and sustainable crop productivity, issues that sit at the heart of both Morocco’s national strategy.
The team has been active in Morocco since 2023, when we first attended SIAM as part of our long-term commitment to the region. We have spent that time listening, learning, and understanding Morocco’s agro-ecological landscape, from the field-level challenges farmers face, to the structural priorities of national food policy.
Morocco’s “Generation Green 2020–2030” strategy aims to address issues with water scarcity, soil health, and yield security. Our flagship technology, MTU®, is already playing a part by helping crops make better use of water and nutrients, improving resilience and reducing dependence on conventional fertilisers throughout the country.
Working alongside growers and institutions, we’ve trialled Status®, our leading biostimulant, on key Moroccan crops including olives, wheat, and tomatoes. The early results are promising:

These trials demonstrate what’s possible when innovative technologies like Status® are built into crop management plans and applied strategically. Tomatoes alone represent a $1B industry in Morocco, with 70% of UK supermarket tomatoes coming from Moroccan fields — so the potential impact of even modest performance gains is significant.
At SIAM 2025, we held meetings with distributors, growers, institutions, and policy stakeholders to map out the next phase of collaboration in the country. This includes new trials on high-value export crops like apples and red fruits (blueberry, raspberry, strawberry), as well as further work on sugar beet.
We are also moving ahead with the national registration process for a range of our technologies, paving the way for wider adoption of biostimulants that deliver real returns and support sustainable agriculture at scale.
Morocco represents a unique mix of ambition and challenge. There is strong political will to improve food security, a diverse agricultural base, and pressing climate-driven constraints, making it exactly the kind of environment where smart, science-led agronomy can make a significant difference.
