IntraCrop Expands into US and Canadian Markets at Biostimulants World Congress
As part of its commitment to expand into the US and Canadian market, IntraCrop is supporting the Biostimulants World Congress which this year takes place in Miami, Florida.
IntraCrop has been conducting trials in these countries to demonstrate the efficacy of its biostimulants in-country, under a variety of conditions on several crop types. Collaborations with local distributors are underway to ensure that these innovative products show demonstratable, repeated results that are relevant to the real-world scenarios faced by growers.
Emily Way, Technical Officer, who will be attending the event, tells us, “So far, we have demonstrated a positive impact on yield when Status® is included in crop management programmes on Cotton, with a yield increased by 0.27t/ha, Maize, increased by 1.46t/ha and Peanuts by 0.52t/ha. Most impressively, results on oilseed rape averaged a 7% yield increase compared to the control, when Status® was applied BBCH12-14, with spring wheat yield increases averaging 10.6% and 10.7% compared to the control, when Status® applied BBCH12-13 and BBCH39 (flag leaf), respectively.”
The Biostimulants World Congress, an annual global event, takes place on 13 – 15th November and brings together key stakeholders in the biostimulant industry, including researchers, manufacturers, distributors, and regulators. The Congress serves as a vital platform for scientific collaboration, networking, and innovation across the agrifood chain. This year, IntraCrop is further extending its reach into North America, where biostimulant technologies offer significant potential to improve crop performance while addressing environmental challenges.
Alongside Emily, Mark Palmer, Managing Director, will represent the team, along with Jaroslav Nisler, who led the development of the award-winning biostimulant technology MTU®. IntraCrop will sponsor a dedicated networking area, allowing attendees to conduct meetings and foster relationships essential for furthering biostimulant development and commercialisation. This networking area will create an environment for productive conversations between current partners, potential distributors, and interested stakeholders.
Jaroslav Nisler will present a poster focused on Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE), a critical area of interest for both environmental and economic reasons. As nitrogen fertiliser use contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, improving NUE can allow growers to reduce reliance on traditional fertilisers, helping to lower emissions whilst synonymously offering better yields for growers. Jaroslav says, “Status® is now CE-marked in the EU for Nitrogen Use Efficiency. In order to gain this certification, it was thoroughly trialled to evidence these claims. Some of the best results were seen in Hungary, where an extended drought prior to their spring rainfall resulted in their crops coming under stress. In Szalanta, one treatment of 0.25l/ha of Status® was applied to grain maize at BBCH 13. This resulted in a yield increase of 0.9t/ha under a 40kg/ha nitrogen regime when compared with the 40 kg/ha nitrogen control. In this trial, 40 kg/ha nitrogen in combination with one application of Status® yielded the same as the 80 kg/ha nitrogen input. This would therefore provide £44.50/ha return on investment, based on a selling price of ~£180/t and a Nitrogen price of £1.10/kg.”
IntraCrop’s Managing Director, Mark Palmer, will also participate in a panel discussion focused on the commercial development of biostimulants markets. Mark states, “Farming today faces immense pressure to reduce its environmental footprint, particularly in terms of greenhouse gas emissions and the use of traditional nitrogen fertilisers. Our research has demonstrated that Status® improves Nitrogen Use Efficiency across various crops and countries. We’ve gathered substantial data over the years, which Jaroslav will share at the event to showcase how our biostimulants are addressing key challenges in agriculture. I am also looking forward to my role on the panel and offering advice on the development of these important technologies.”
