Talisman® now CE Mark certified under EU Fertilising Products Regulation
IntraCrop’s plant biostimulant Talisman® has been granted CE Mark certification under the European Union’s new Fertilising Products Regulation (EU 2019/1009 – the FPR), making it available for use by farmers across all 27 member states.
Dr Mark Palmer, Commercial Director for IntraCrop, said, “The new FPR requires manufacturers to provide efficacy data to prove label claims. As a science-led organisation with a strong trials programme, IntraCrop is well placed to meet these requirements. The Talisman® data includes results from more than 50 independent trials and shows an average response of almost 6%. This typically represents a 5:1 return on investment.”
Talisman® is a blend of three plant biostimulants – pidolic acid, R100 and dimethylsulphone – combined with foliar nutrients, which is now CE Mark certified for broadacre crops and woody perennials under PFC 6.B (Non-Microbial Plant Biostimulant).
The biostimulants’ complementary modes of action and the balanced, broad-spectrum nutrients increase yield and quality in a variety of crops. In healthy conditions, pidolic acid increases chlorophyll concentration and nitrogen assimilation, R100 boosts cytokinin concentrations and the combination powers growth. In challenging conditions, Talisman® can be used at the onset of abiotic stress, such as drought, heat or rapid growth, to help alleviate symptoms. The pidolic acid maintains chlorophyll concentration and green leaf retention, reducing toxic ammonia build up and associated leaf yellowing.
Iain Meansworth, key account manager for Northern Europe, says there is considerable interest in Talisman® already. “Growers in France, Poland, Hungary and other strong arable nations recognise the impact that plant biostimulants have on crop yields and are keen to take advantage, particularly now we are experiencing such severe weather variations. Talisman® protects crops against abiotic stress and primes the plant for recovery, protecting yields.”
