IntraCrop’s award-winning biostimulant technology, MTU®, has been selected as a presentation topic for the Biostimulants World Congress (BWC).
The congress will see over 1,600 attendees from more than 70 countries come together to discuss the future of biostimulants and how they can support our growing population with a sustainable, reliable food chain, support the soil microbiome and prime plants for climatic changes. The event will host a variety of speakers and carefully chosen presentations, screened by the BWC’s scientific committee.
The presentation will be given by Jaroslav Nisler, Head of the Isotope Laboratory at the Institute of Experimental Botany (CZ) who led the development of MTU® on behalf of IntraCrop. It is titled ‘MTU® – a small molecule with a strong effect on stress tolerance and nitrogen use efficiency’ and will take place on Wednesday, 29 November at 15:25.

Jaroslav will discuss how MTU® improves crop resilience in the face of climate change, in relation to a trial on wheat plants. During the trial, MTU® was shown to delay both age- and stress-induced senescence of wheat plants. After treatment, it was noted that there was improved performance in the photosystems of the plant, especially under drought stress conditions. In optimal conditions, and under drought stress, the wheat showed a faster growth rate than untreated controls.
Jaroslav tells us, “We have proven that MTU® enhances average grain yields by up to 15% based on the analysis of several years’ trials results. We attribute this effect to two things: improved photosynthesis and better nitrogen use efficiency. We have also been able to confirm that MTU® acts without the involvement of cytokinins or other phytohormones. I am looking forward to presenting this paper at the congress and demonstrating how MTU® affects Photosystem I stability and activity.”
The Biostimulants World Congress takes place in Milan, Italy from 28th November to 1st December. You can buy tickets here.
