End to end emissions assessment helps growers manage carbon footprint


IntraCrop is undertaking a significant piece of research to assess the end-to-end product lifecycle carbon emissions of Nutrino Pro and how it compares with a traditional fertiliser regime.

This data analysis will provide information about emission hotspots in production, packaging, distribution, and storage, allowing the development of mitigation strategies where appropriate. Nutrino Pro is already proven in trials to improve nutrient use efficiency, allowing a 15% reduction in nitrogen use without compromising yield. Having a clear assessment of the product’s carbon footprint will enable customers to reduce their carbon footprint by switching to a more efficient source of nitrogen whilst still maintaining yield, quality, and margin over input costs.

Commercial Director Mark Palmer says this is part of the company’s Science Led approach to business:

“There is increasing pressure from the food supply chain to manage carbon footprints as part of ESG targets. It is well recognised that the use of biostimulants contributes to sustainable agriculture by improving nutrient use efficiency. We are taking this one step further, by considering how our biostimulant products are manufactured as well as how they are used, so that growers can really understand the impact they have on their own carbon footprints.”
